Create a banner that meets Google's requirements
If you use Google Consent Mode without IAB TCF, Google asks that your consent banner:
- explains why data is collected,
- links to Google's page How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps inside the banner, and
- gives visitors an affirmative way to consent (such as an Accept button).
ConsentBit includes a Google Consent Mode banner template that does all three. We recommend using it whenever Consent Mode is enabled without IAB TCF.
Apply the template
- In your ConsentBit dashboard, open your site and go to Cookie Banner → Content.
- At the top, in the "Using Google Consent Mode?" box, click Apply template. Or, to keep your own text, turn on the Google privacy link switch just below it.
- Review the banner in the preview. You can edit the title, message and button labels, but keep:
- a message that explains why data is collected (for example analytics and advertising),
- the Accept button, and
- the Customize button, because the Google link is in the preferences panel it opens.
- Click Publish. The change reaches your live banner within a few minutes.
Where the Google link appears
The link appears in the banner's preferences panel, under the Marketing category. Visitors open it by clicking Customize and expanding Marketing. It opens Google's page in a new tab and is shown in the banner's language.
Check it
Open your site in a private window, click Customize, expand Marketing, and confirm that the link How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps is visible and opens https://business.safety.google/privacy/.
To check your Consent Mode setup as well, open your page with ?consentbit_debug=1 (see Debug mode).
