Cookie consent for Wix

Wix changed your cookie banner. Here are your options.

Wix used to include a simple free cookie banner. It now routes consent through Usercentrics, which is a capable platform, but it is not the only one you can use, and it may not be the one you want.

ConsentBit runs on Wix through Custom Code. Scan your site, block what should be blocked, keep the record that proves it, and keep full control of how the banner looks.

The problem

A banner is not consent

A banner announces cookies. Consent means nothing non-essential runs until the visitor agrees.

That distinction decides whether your Wix site is actually compliant. Wix sets its own cookies, but so does everything you added: Google Analytics, a Meta Pixel, a booking widget, a chat tool, an embedded video. Each one fires when the page loads unless something holds it back.

Block first, ask second.

If you are happy with the bundled banner, keep it. If you want design control, exportable records, or one tool across every site you run, you have another option.

Decide

Four questions that decide it

1
Have you added Analytics, a pixel or any script through Custom Code?
Those need blocking, not just announcing.
2
Do you run ads?
Google expects consent signals from your tags, which is what Consent Mode v2 sends.
3
Do you manage sites on more than one platform?
One account across Wix, Squarespace and WordPress beats three separate setups.
4
Could you produce proof of consent if asked?
A stored preference is not an exportable record.

How to add a cookie banner to Wix

1

Scan your site

Add your domain and ConsentBit returns every cookie and tracker found, including the ones your apps and embeds brought with them.

2

Add the script

In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code (under Advanced), click Add Custom Code, paste the ConsentBit script, set it to load in the Head, apply it to all pages, and choose Load once.

Custom Code requires a Premium plan with a connected domain.

3

Set your rules and publish

Choose your categories, style the banner to match your site, set your regions, publish. Scripts stay silent until someone agrees.

Then turn off the Wix banner, so visitors are not asked twice.

How to check your Wix site actually blocks cookies

Do not take the banner's word for it. Two minutes.

1
Open your site in a private window.
2
Open DevTools, go to Application → Cookies, and look before touching the banner.
3
If _ga, _gid or _fbp are already there, your scripts fired before consent.
4
Click Reject, reload, look again. Non-essential cookies should still be missing.
5
Click Accept, reload, confirm they appear.
Take the screenshot before you change anything, so you can compare afterwards.

What changes

What changes once ConsentBit is on

Nothing tracks before it should.

Analytics, pixels, chat widgets and embeds stay off until the visitor chooses.

The banner looks like your site.

Full design control on every paid plan, not a fixed template.

You can answer “prove it”.

Every consent is logged with its timestamp and choices, and exports as CSV or JSON.

Your other sites come along.

The same account covers Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Shopify, Magento, Drupal, Joomla and anything else where you can add a script.

Plans start at $9 a month per domain for Basic, with Essential and Growth for larger sites. A free plan covers one domain and 5,000 pageviews a month, and every paid plan comes with a 14-day trial and no card required.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Wix now routes consent through Usercentrics, which covers Wix’s own cookies. Scripts you added through Custom Code, such as Google Analytics or a Meta Pixel, need separate handling. Run the two-minute test above to see what fires on your site before anyone clicks.

Yes. Any consent platform that installs through Custom Code works, including ConsentBit. Run one banner only, and switch the Wix one off.

It can be on a simple site, properly configured. GDPR requires non-essential scripts to stay blocked until consent, so the test is whether your added scripts are actually held back, not whether a banner appears.

Custom Code requires a Wix Premium plan with a connected domain, and that is where the ConsentBit script goes.

In your Wix dashboard open Settings → Custom Code, click Add Custom Code, paste the ConsentBit script, set it to load in the Head, apply it to all pages and choose Load once. Then turn off the Wix banner.

Plans start at $9 a month per domain for Basic. Essential is $20 and Growth is $56, with annual billing saving between 12.5% and 33%. Every paid plan includes a 14-day trial and no card is required.

Yes. The free plan covers one domain and 5,000 pageviews a month, with GDPR and CCPA coverage, automatic script blocking and Google Consent Mode v2 included.

Yes. Apps from the Wix App Market, booking tools, chat widgets and video embeds each set their own cookies when the page loads. ConsentBit blocks them until the visitor agrees.

No. ConsentBit loads as a single lightweight script and does not block your page from rendering. Holding back tracking scripts until consent often makes that first load lighter.

Yes. Agencies manage every client site from one dashboard and can assign Basic, Essential or Growth per site. Volume discounts start at 30% off from five domains and reach 50% at 100 or more, and the banner can be white-labelled with custom CSS.

Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Shopify, Magento, Drupal, Joomla, plain HTML and any site where you can add a script to the header. Webflow and Framer also have native apps. One account covers all of them.

Yes. Consent records export as CSV or JSON, with timestamps and the exact choices made.
